“[A] spirit of immediacy was evident from the show’s start.” —Haverblog
A guinea pig becomes a shark. A queer skeleton invites you to contribute a keepsake to a time capsule. What marks this moment for you? Who and what is the future for which we bury our treasures? Does the future have teeth?
A collaboration between visiting artist Eli Nixon and students, the ensemble created an early 21st century time capsule with the audience, which was buried in a vault in the archives of the college library immediately following the performance, not to be opened until 2036.
Written by Eli Nixon in collaboration with the ensemble as part of the Performance as Research: Devised Theater Workshop course at Haverford. Talkback with Jill Dolan, Princeton University.
Performed at Haverford College and the MAAS Building, Philadelphia, as part of Commonwealth Dinner Theater, produced by Bowerbird, curated by Erik Ruin.
Supported by a grant from the John B. Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities. Featured in Haverblog.
