“A ritual for survival.” —Thinking Dance
Structured as a mash up of the classic fantasy film, The Wizard of Oz, and the Book of Esther from the Jewish Megillah, this queer, campy, community-based Purimshpil musical was a post-2016 election spectacle of hope in times of patriarchy and white supremacy. Presented at the William Way LGBT Center of Philadelphia.
Written and produced by Ezra Berkley Nepon in collaboration with Dancing for Justice: Black Lives Matter, Jewish Voice for Peace Philadelphia, and the local community.
